THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND kept their World Cup qualification campaign very much on track with a 3-0 victory over minnows Andorra.
The Eire side struggled to break down the opposition for half an hour in the first half, but finally broke the deadlock through the ever-reliable left boot of Leeds United's Ian Harte, who converted from the penalty spot.
An expected deluge of goals did not follow, but after 74 minutes Sunderland's Kevin Kilbane - whose form for his country has been far more impressive than for his club - doubled the lead.
As the Andorran heads dropped Ipswich captain Matt Holland gave the scoreline some gloss with eleven minutes to go, and Eire now go top of their group, with Portugal level on points but behind because of goal difference.
