Karen Carney will become the first woman inducted into the Birmingham City Hall of Fame next month.

The Birmingham City Ladies winger will lead out the men’s side for their Sky Bet Championship game against Chris Powell’s Huddersfield Town on March 14. Carney will then be presented to the St Andrew’s faithful during half time.

The Solihull-born forward is a lifelong Birmingham fan and first joined the club at the age of 11. She had spells at Arsenal Ladies and Chicago Red Stars before rejoining Birmingham in 2011.

The 27-year-old is part of a select group of players who have played 100 games for England, receiving a prized gold cap ahead of the historic friendly against Germany at Wembley last November.

Birmingham kick-off their FA Women’s Super League campaign at home to 2014 Continental Cup winners Manchester City on March 29.
