Birmingham Under-21 skipper James Fry has signed a new 12-month contract with the option of a further year.
The 19-year-old defender, who signed his first professional deal in May 2013, is hoping to be involved in boss Lee Clark's first-team plans next season.
"You always know that as a young player at this club that if you do well, your attitude is right and you perform, then you've always got a chance," Fry told the club's official website.
"The manager is willing to give players opportunities and hopefully I can be involved next year."
Fry, ruled out for most of last season after sustaining ankle ligament damage while on loan at Leamington, chose to focus on football at the age of 16 having spent eight years with the academy at Warwickshire County Cricket Club.
