Portsmouth sign young midfielder on loan from West Brom
Michael Appleton has wasted no time in filling the hole left by the departure of Erik Huseklepp to Birmingham by snapping up West Brom starlet Scott Allan.
Portsmouth were forced to let the Norwegian striker join the promotion chasing Blues on loan with a view to signing a permanent deal in a bid to balance the books.
The Pompey boss acted quickly to replace him and the clubs have agreed a deal for the Scotland Under 21 international to join on a month-long loan deal.
But Appleton is sweating on the Football League giving the deal the green light as the crisis club were placed in administration last week.
It is not the first time the Pompey boss has raided his former club for players as the promising 21-year-old midfielder will be greeted by fellow Baggie George Thorne who is at the club on a similar deal while Joe Mattock also spent a loan period at Pompey earlier this season.
West Brom fought off interest from Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers to land the midfielder last month on a two-and-a-half year deal from Dundee United.
