Scunthorpe manager Alan Knill wants Blackburn trialist Gavin Gunning to join the Iron on a permanent basis.

Gunning, 21, played for Scunthorpe in the friendly victory over Rotherham and the defeat to Barnsley, and now Knill is hoping to tie up a deal before this weekend. "Gavin is still a Blackburn player but at the moment he's negotiating a pay-up on his contract," Knill told the club's official website. "Once he gets that then maybe we can do something. "Gavin is going to be a good player so I'm hoping we can sign him. It all depends really though on whether he can leave Blackburn. "I'm hoping it can be resolved by the weekend." Knill added that the club would not be pursuing their interest in other trialists Dominic Green and Kieran Djilali.
