Latics in talks with strike duo

Oldham Athletic boss Paul Dickov has held talks with strikers Cody McDonald and Clayton Donaldson.

The two players were among the best goalscorers in League Two last season. McDonald hit the headlines by scoring 26 goals for Gillingham last season during a loan spell from Norwich, while Donaldson finished as the top scorer in League Two with 29 strikes for Crewe and has been linked with Bradford City, Chesterfield and Crawley. "I am not stupid and realise that goalscorers of their calibre will attract a lot of interest," Dickov told the club's official website. "But I have spoken to both players, and there are a lot of clubs in for them. "If it is purely down to money, then they are not my type of player. I want footballers who will buy into what we are trying to achieve here."
