Cardiff City's Chris Burke believes they are starting to play like potential champions.

Winger tips Bluebirds for the Championship title

Although Queens Park Rangers currently top the table by two points from Cardiff, City's Chris Burke believes they are starting to play like potential champions. After the marquee signing of Craig Bellamy in the summer, Cardiff were tipped to clinch the Championship title by most observers. Should QPR lose at Bristol City on Friday and Dave Jones' men overcome Leeds at Elland Road on Monday, they will top the Championship for the first time this term. It is not only the quality of their play that has the former Rangers winger convinced of their ability to win the division, but also their mental toughness which they showed against Bristol City and Coventry recently.

Championship

"We are only 12 games into the new Championship season and still learning about each others strengths," said Burke. "The character we showed as a team in battling back from two goals down against Bristol City to win. That might not have happened last season. But there is a belief and a confidence here now. "We are a team looking to progress. Our formations have changed, we don't always play 4-4-2, and we are encouraged to go out and express ourselves. "Confidence is growing. We are looking like true champions. Hopefully we can achieve what we want, promotion to the Premier League - this season." Leeds' arrival in the Championship has added an extra slice of glamour to the division this year and Burke acknowledges they will be a tough proposition.
Forward
"Confidence is growing and we are looking forward to playing a club like Leeds United," he added. "That's a great club and their team have done ever so well after coming up from League One. "Their fans will be behind them all the way, but we'll enjoy the atmosphere. Leeds are a club with a great history. "They have a quality team and are trying to build the club's reputation as one of the best teams around."
