Cotterill finalises £600,000 move

Swansea City have finalised the record signing of David Cotterill from Sheffield United. Cotterill joined the Swans on loan late last year with a view to a permanent deal and now he has penned a three-and-a-half-year deal. Swansea have paid £600,000 to sign the Welsh international, which represents a record for the club. "I'm delighted it's all finalised,'' declared Cotterill. "As far as I am concerned I've joined the best footballing side in the Championship. "I've come here to play football and I aim to keep working hard, get myself in the starting 11 on a regular basis and chip in with a few more goals. "It's not going to be easy because there are some good players here and the team is doing well. "But I hope to stay here for a long time and help the club move on. There is no reason why we can't finish in the top six this season.''

Delight

Swans boss Paulo Sousa was delighted to finalise the signing. "I'm very pleased," he said. "He's a young player and a very good prospect for the future. "He's still quite young to be considered an important player and we will continue working with him to help improve his game. "We believe that he possesses great talent and that he can be a very important player, not just in the Championship but also in the Premier League."
