Birmingham City have missed out on the capture of giant Czech Republic striker Jan Koller after he joined Krylya Sovetov Samara.
Blues were linked with a summer move for the 35-year-old hit-man, who was out of contract, following his decision to leave relegated Nurnberg.
Alex McLeish's side had been reportedly set to offer Koller a bumper deal to tempt him to England, but he has now penned an 18-month contract with the Russian outfit.
Koller has spent most of the summer with Czech Republic in Euro 2008, but following their early exit at the group stage he has now finalised his future.
The former Monaco, Borussia Dortmund and Anderlecht man started two of three group games for his country, scoring once in their last-gasp 3-2 defeat to Turkey.
