Alex McLeish has no doubts about Mauro Zarate's ability and he insists he wants him to remain at Birmingham.
The Argentine striker joined the Blues on loan until the end of the season from Qatarian outfit Al-Sadd.
Zarate is valued at over £10million and Birmingham are unsure whether they could conclude a permanent deal.
But with the likes of Newcastle, Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester City, West Ham and Sunderland all believed to be showing an interest - the pressure could be on Birmingham to finalise a deal.
McLeish insists they want Zarate to remain at St Andrews.
"We are trying to keep him for next season," McLeish told Sky Sports News.
"But I don't want to put too much pressure on Mauro and hopefully he can continue to make an impact."
McLeish admitted Zarate has the ability to play for anyone he wants.
"I think if he went to a top-four club right now his playing time would be limited because of the quality they have at their disposal at these clubs but I think he could make an impact at any of the big teams," he added.
