Maik Taylor is hoping Birmingham City will learn from their naivety after Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to Derby County.
Blues slipped into the relegation zone in the Premier League after conceding a last-minute equaliser against the division's bottom club.
Sebastian Larsson had earlier given Birmingham the lead and veteran keeper Taylor feels the top-flight strugglers must heed the lessons from the game.
"We controlled the game and looked pretty comfortable right until the end," Taylor told Sky Sports News.
"Maybe we showed a bit of naivety and tried to keep going when maybe we should have shut up shop for the last five minutes and taken the 1-0.
"We have to learn from it. We have a young squad there and it's important we don't keep making the same mistakes.
"Certainly, playing against a Derby team who are a bit adrift at the bottom and being at home you would expect to take three points.
"It's a big blow to us, but there are still plenty of points left to play for. We have to keep believing and keep going."
