Hibernian defender David Murphy is hopeful that he will secure a move to Birmingham.
Birmingham are leading the chase for the former Middlesbrough full-back and have already had two bids rejected by Hibs this month.
Blues boss Alex McLeish is keen to bring the left-back to St Andrews and is believed to have tabled an improved bid for the 23-year-old as he looks to clinch his signature.
Murphy is looking for a move back to England and he hopes that Hibs will agree a deal with Birmingham to let him leave.
"I believe a move could be very close," Murphy told skysports.com.
"Birmingham have expressed an interest in signing me and I would be keen on going there.
"I have enjoyed my time at Hibs, but the club know I want to return to the Premier League.
"I just hope that Hibernian can agree a deal to let me move on and I am looking forward to playing in England again."
