Hibernian boss Mixu Paatelainen 'expects' David Murphy to stay at the club despite interest from Birmingham City.
Skysports.com revealed that Hibs rejected a second bid of £1.5millon from Birmingham for Murphy after an initial £1million offer was turned down.
Blues boss Alex McLeish is thought to be a big fan of the former Middlesbrough youngster and is keen to bring him to St Andrews.
Furthermore, Murphy has reportedly set his sights on a return to England.
But despite growing interest in the 23-year-old, Paatelainen is sure that he will remain at Easter Road.
"He is a Hibs player, he is in my plans and I expect him to stay," he told the Edinburgh Evening News.
"As soon as he gets fit I am hoping to involve him. I cannot wait because he is a very good player and I would hope to have him ready for Hearts on Saturday.
"It doesn't surprise me other clubs are interested in David because he is a good, good player.
"It's not entirely in my hands, but I want to keep the best players at the club, to have as competitive a team as possible."
