Birmingham manager Steve Bruce has ruled out allowing Neil Danns to join Nottingham Forest on loan.
Forest were keen to land Danns on a short-term deal but the midfielder will be staying at St Andrews after Borja Oubina's injury.
Oubina ruptured his left anterior cruciate ligament on his full debut against Liverpool and will be sidelined for six months.
Bruce sees Danns having a role to play in Oubina's absence and will therefore not be letting the 24-year-old head out on loan.
"Neil won't be going on loan after the injury to Oubina," Bruce said.
"I thought that arguably he was our best player in the Carling Cup tie at Blackburn and he gives us another option, especially with the injury to Oubina."
