The race for Colchester star Neil Danns is hotting up after Midlands rivals Birmingham and Coventry joined the chase for his signature.
A host of Championship clubs including Norwich, Sunderland, Cardiff and Ipswich have also shown an interest in the former Blackburn man - who has turned down Colchester's final offer of terms.
"He will be leaving Colchester, that we can confirm," his representative Tony Finnigan told skysports.com.
"The player has had a wonderful time there, when he left Blackburn and Phil Parkinson rang me - we knew that was the place to go as he would become a better player, and that is exactly what has happened."
Danns is hot property and is out of contract at Layer Road - meaning he is free to speak to any interested parties, but because he is only 23 - Colchester would be due compensation.
Finnigan confirmed talks were ongoing with a number of clubs.
"There is a great deal of interest - as you would expect for a midfielder who scored 16 goals last season," he added.
"Yes there is a great deal of interest and talks have taken place with interested parties.
"We hope to have something settled for Neil in the coming week or so."
