Blues' Pennant warning

Birmingham City have warned they will fight to keep Jermaine Pennant.

Birmingham City have warned interested parties that they will have to pay market value for Jermaine Pennant.

Blues are coming to terms with relegation from The Premiership and are aware that their better players could become summer transfer targets.

Pennant was one of the few bright spots in a poor season for Blues and could well be on the wish list of a number of clubs.

Blues chairman David Gold is aware of the situation, but has warned that it will take a sizeable offer to land the former Arsenal winger.

"We've had no bids but it wouldn't surprise us to receive one," said Gold.

"We know every player has his price, but he wouldn't go on the cheap and we will fight tooth and nail to keep him."
