Millwall are hopeful that goalkeeper Colin Doyle will be allowed to return from Birmingham in time for the match against Leicester on Boxing Day.

Blues recalled the 20-year-old from his loan spell at The Den as cover ahead of the Carling Cup clash with Manchester United, with Nico Vaesen ruled out through suspension.

But Millwall boss Colin Lee is confident that Doyle will not be required at St Andrews for long.

"We should be able to get Colin on two seven-day 'emergency' loan deals to take us through to January," he said.

Lee is also determined to keep hold of the youngster for the rest of the season if possible.

"We will try to secure a deal so he can stay for the rest of the season. Colin has done fantastically in his four games for us," he remarked.

"Birmingham rate him highly, and at some stage he will have to decide whether he wants to be part of a Premiership club - but he is not at that juncture yet."
