Proment could well be sold as Metz prepare for next year, and several top clubs have taken a look at the talented Frenchman.
Premiership side Birmingham were credited with an interest, but the player admitted he would prefer another Le Championnat club.
"If, for financial reasons, Metz choose to sell me I would leave for a club in France," said Proment.
"Birmingham have made their interest known, but they are not the only one."
