WEST BROM have been given an offer of four Birmingham City players in exchange for striker Lee Hughes by an agent claiming to represent the St. Andrew's club, but manager Gary Megson has dismissed the approach.

The deal includes Dele Adebola, Peter Ndlovu, David Holdsworth, and star full back Gary Rowett in return for The Hawthorns striker.

But West Brom manager Gary Megson told his club's official website: "What happened was that this agent came on to me, saying he was representing Trevor Francis and offering a choice of Furlong, Ndlovu, Holdsworth, and Rowett.

"I'm not saying Birmingham were suggesting I could have had all four, but there are some good players among that lot. But it sounded like a strange way to do business and it wasn't the right deal for us or Lee Hughes anyway. I don't want him to go anywhere."

Megson, who refuses to deal with agents on principle, noted: "I have had no contact with Trevor Francis or anybody else at Birmingham City."
