Jordan Pickford - Burton Albion
For a man experiencing life in the Football League for the first time, Pickford is performing like a seasoned veteran at present. Still only 19 years of age, he helped Burton to a third successive victory on Saturday - over Exeter - and a third successive clean sheet. His stay with Albion is only due to last until early December, when he will be due back at parent club Sunderland, but you can bet that Gary Rowett will be doing all he can to extend that agreement.
Carl Winchester - Oldham Athletic
When you aren't renowned for your goalscoring prowess, hitting the back of the net becomes quite an achievement and a moment to savour. Winchester dusted off his shooting boots on Saturday, and in some style. The Northern Ireland international wandered forward from full-back, skipped past a couple of lacklustre challenges and unleashed a 25-yard thunderbolt which curled and dipped over stranded Swindon goalkeeper Wes Foderingham - cue wild celebrations.
Richard Stearman - Wolverhampton Wanderers
Stearman spent the second half of last season away from Molineux, on loan at Ipswich, as Wolves tumbled into League One. He is, however, set to play a leading role in their efforts to bounce back into the second tier at the first time of asking. A 2-1 victory over Bradford on Saturday has lifted Kenny Jackett's men into second place, with Stearman grabbing what proved to be the winner at Valley Parade as he nodded home a James Henry delivery just past the half-hour mark.
Chris Robertson - Port Vale
Port Vale have settled quickly back in the third tier, with League One holding no fear for Micky Adams' side. They cemented their top-half standing over the weekend with a 2-1 victory over Gillingham - the second time this season they have collected back-to-back wins. Robertson helped to put them on their way to three points, after seeing Vale fall behind early on. The Scottish centre-half found himself in the right place at the right time to nod home at the back post after a corner had been glanced in his direction.
Harry Maguire - Sheffield United
Nigel Clough made the perfect start to his Bramall Lane reign with a 3-1 victory over Crewe. Clough has been charged with the task of turning the Sheffield United ship around, and they are heading in the right direction once more. Unlikely hero Maguire helped them to ease past their fellow strugglers on Saturday, with his first-half brace all but wrapping up the points. Maguire's first saw him stoop to divert a header into the net from 10 yards out, before rising highest to nod in a Stephen McGinn corner.
Albert Adomah - Middlesbrough
Having been handed the managerial reins at Middlesbrough on a caretaker basis following the dismissal of Tony Mowbray, Mark Venus wasted little time in shaking things up for his first game in charge. Sweeping changes were made to the Boro starting XI, and he was rewarded with a 4-0 victory over Doncaster in front of the Sky Sports cameras. Adomah proved to be tormentor in chief, with the tricky winger racing clear to calmly lob in the opener and adding a second before the break as he met a Richard Smallwood cross with a diving header.
Ed Upson - Yeovil Town
Upson helped Yeovil to make their own piece of history on Saturday, as they collected their first home victory in the second tier. The Glovers picked quite a day to mark the occasion, with big-spending promotion hopefuls Nottingham Forest the visitors to Huish Park. Yeovil were far from fazed and had the game settled before half-time. Upson broke the deadlock just eight minutes in, with a deflected volley from the edge of the box, and doubled the Glovers' lead five minutes before the break with another sweetly-struck effort from distance.
Medy Elito - Dagenham & Redbridge
Dagenham only narrowly avoided the drop last season, but they are now looking to push on into the play-off places. The in-form Daggers made it four wins in six as they brought high-flying Rochdale down to earth with a bump. Spreading the goals around has been key for the capital outfit this term, and Eliot weighed in with two against Dale. He had already helped to lay on Rhys Murphy's opener before restoring the home side's advantage early in the second half with a smart lob and wrapping up the points in the final minute with a low 20-yard drive.
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas - Bristol City
The only hat-trick in the Football League over the weekend was netted at Brunton Park, as Bristol City prevailed in a six-goal thriller with Carlisle. While Luis Suarez was doing the business for Liverpool in the Premier League, Emmanuel-Thomas was matching his achievement by claiming the first match ball of his career. He moved onto 10 goals for the season with three second-half strikes - the first seeing him power home a header, the second just 60 seconds later crashed in from 12 yards out and the third showing good strength before drilling low into the bottom corner.
Danny Ings - Burnley
Very much the man of the moment in the Championship, Ings was at it again over the weekend in a top-of-the-table clash at Turf Moor. Ambitious Queens Park Rangers arrived in Lancashire having kept eight clean sheets and only failed to find the target in one previous league fixture. Burnley proved too strong on home soil, though, as they opened up a three-point lead at the summit. England U21 star Ings bagged himself a brace - breaking the deadlock with a confident finish to round off a flowing move and making no mistake from the penalty spot two minutes from time.
Macauley Bonne - Colchester United
There was plenty of cause for celebration in the Bonne household on Saturday night, and you could forgive the young Colchester striker for indulging himself following a day to remember. Not only did the U's academy graduate net his first professional goal on his home debut to seal a 1-0 win over free-scoring Peterborough, the 26th October also saw him turn 18. It proved to be some birthday for the promising frontman as he joined the action as a 62nd-minute substitute and glanced in a powerful header after just eight minutes on the field.
