Sheffield Wednesday's chief executive officer and vice-chairman Paul Aldridge will leave the club at the end of the 2015/16 season.

Club owner Dejphon Chansiri, who completed his takeover from predecessor Milan Mandaric at the end of January, appointed Adam Pearson and Glenn Roeder as sporting directors this week and will now begin the search for Aldridge's replacement.

Aldridge said: "Mr Chansiri and I discussed the best long-term future for the club and we have decided that now is right time to make and announce this decision.

"I am sure by giving the chairman sufficient time to consider who is the right person to lead the club into its 150th anniversary, he will appoint the most suitable successor."

Aldridge acted on behalf of Mandaric when he bought the club in 2010 and later joined following the departure of Nick Parker in January 2011.

He added: "There are no plans for change in the immediate future and know I have a very busy summer ahead, we have at least two major projects starting later this month.

"Supporters will notice a big difference when they come back at the start of next season and see the new pitch and giant screen.

"I am also hoping to be very busy playing my part in the overhaul of the playing squad, the chairman has made it quite clear he wants to be challenging from the start of the new season."

Chansiri added: "This decision will allow me the time to begin the process of identifying his successor.

"I am very confident that whilst we will miss Paul, this will give me the opportunity to further strengthen the executive management team for the future."
