Neil Harris aiming to restore confidence of Millwall players

Millwall's interim manager Neil Harris said his biggest challenge will be to try and restore his players' lost confidence following the sacking of Ian Holloway.

Fans favourite Harris, who scored 138 goals during two spells at the club as a player, has been placed in temporary charge for a second time having stepped into the breach after the departure of Steve Lomas in December 2013.

When asked where he would start, Harris, the Lions' elite development coach, told the club's official website: "I think with trying to put the belief back into the boys.

"They care and want to perform, but have found it very difficult of late.

"A big thing is trying to get them to be able to play football at The Den and try and get the fans behind the team and give them plenty to cheer about.

"I find myself in this position because we're struggling in the league and results haven't gone quite as we planned.

"But there is a lot to play for, a lot to be excited about and a lot to look forward to.

"The work starts on the training pitch and all that matters at the moment is results."

Holloway was sacked on Tuesday after the club's weekend home defeat to Norwich, which has left them second-bottom in the Sky Bet Championship, eight points adrift of safety with 10 games remaining.

Harris' first game in charge following Holloway's departure is on Saturday at Bolton, where Millwall will bid to halt a four-game losing streak and pick up a second win in nine matches.
