Nottingham Forest owner and chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi has revealed a full transfer embargo on the club has been lifted, meaning they can register new players.

The Sky Bet Championship club had initially been working under restrictions imposed for breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

A comprehensive transfer ban was then put in place after they missed payments to other clubs.

Al Hasawi has confirmed all money owed has now been paid, meaning they can once again bring new players into the club on emergency loan deals or if they are out of contract.

“Let me reassure everyone that all monies owed over transfer-related transactions have now been paid, resulting in the recent embargo being lifted,” he said in a statement on the club’s official website.

“This means the manager will still be able to bring players in on emergency loan under the initial Financial Fair Play restrictions.

“Since the summer of 2014 I have spent more than £22m and I will continue to support the club in every way possible.”

Al Hasawi also described the decision to sack club legend Stuart Pearce as manager as “by far the most difficult I’ve had to make as owner and chairman of Nottingham Forest.”

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Dorus de Vries has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at the club until the summer of 2017.

The 34-year-old, signed from Wolves on a free transfer in July 2013, has played 14 times for Forest, including six appearances this season.
