Brighton boss Sami Hyypia is weighing up a move for former France captain Alou Diarra.
The 33-year-old midfielder, who played at Liverpool with Hyypia, is training with the struggling Seagulls and could join as a free agent having left West Ham in the summer.
"He hasn't got a club at the moment and when I heard that I immediately invited him here," revealed Hyypia.
"I gave him an opportunity to train with us and at the same time we can have a look at how he is.
"He has trained with a personal trainer but training on your own is not the same as training with the team. He is with us this week as well and we will see what happens.
"We need a midfield player. If he is the one, we shall see."
