Brentford midfielder Toumani Diagouraga has signed a new two-year contract extension.

The 27-year-old, whose previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season, has committed himself to Griffin Park until the summer of 2017.

Diagouraga, who joined Brentford from Peterborough in 2010, struggled to get into the team earlier this season but emerged as a key figure during the Bees' recent five-match winning run.

Boss Mark Warburton told the club's official website: "Toumani is a player who has worked tirelessly to break into the team.

"He faced the challenge of being able to deliver a more consistent level of performance.

"We were aware of his ability but Toumani himself knew that with the move to Championship football the demands on him would grow.

"We are delighted with the way he has responded. As with all the players, the challenge is now to maintain that consistency of performance."
