Sky Bet Championship: Derby captain Richard Keogh suffers hamstring strain

Derby captain Richard Keogh has suffered a slight hamstring strain and is a doubt for this weekend's Sky Bet Championshp clash with Brighton.

Keogh sustained the injury during Saturday's defeat to Leeds at Elland Road.

Keogh has not yet been ruled out of the Brighton game, but first-team coach Paul Simpson thinks it is more likely he will be available again for the Middlesbrough match on December 13.

"Rich has had a scan and he has a similar injury to what he came back with from Ireland, but we are not ruling him out for Saturday," Simpson told local reporters on Monday.

"We won't take any silly risks, we have got players capable of stepping in if needs be."

Keogh's previous problem was picked up while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland in October.

The 28-year-old missed his country's Euro 2016 qualifiers against Gibraltar in Dublin and the away match in Germany.
