Transfer news: Sheffield Wednesday closing on loan deal for striker

Sheffield Wednesday boss Stuart Gray says he is 'very close' to wrapping up a loan deal for a new striker.

It is hoped that a fresh face will be added to the ranks before Saturday’s trip to The Valley to face Charlton Athletic.

Gray has already been able to acquire Gary Taylor-Fletcher from Leicester City, but believes he is still lacking in the attacking department.

He has a point, with Stevie May and Atdhe Nuhiu his only other striking options.

Wednesday are therefore hoping that their efforts to bring another body on board before the weekend will pay off.

Gray said in the Sheffield Star: “We need to mix it up a little bit.

“We are just falling short in the final third.

“We are very close. We are now relying on the individual or the player’s agent giving us the green light.”
