Tom Ince is 'thankful' for the opportunity offered to him at Nottingham Forest, as he looks to get back to playing with 'a smile on my face'.

The 22-year-old winger has joined the Reds on a short-term loan agreement that will initially run until late December.

A spell at the City Ground is intended to benefit both parties, with Forest looking for an injection of creativity after losing key men to injury and Ince in need of regular game time after slipping out of favour at parent club Hull City.

He admits he has endured a frustrating start to life at the KC Stadium, having only joined the ranks there over the summer, but is looking forward to getting started at Forest and showing what he is capable of.

It helps that I know the manager, but it also helps that he knows me as a player; he knows what I can bring to the team.

A man who has starred in the Sky Bet Championship in the recent past with Blackpool and one who has worked with Forest boss Stuart Pearce before with the England U21 side, said in the Nottingham Post: “It helps that I know the manager, but it also helps that he knows me as a player; he knows what I can bring to the team.

“I am thankful for the opportunity, because it has been a difficult start to the season for me.

“I thought I had done well at the start of the season at Hull, but then things happen in football that mean you are not involved.

“It is vital now that I get games and get back to playing with a smile on my face.

“There is no better place for me to do that than here, with the gaffer they have, the players they have got and the way Forest have started this season. I am happy to come and be a part of that.”

Ince added after taking in his first training session on Friday and reacquainting himself with some familiar faces from his time with England and Crystal Palace: “It has been great, it is always good to see some familiar faces – I think we have the entire former England under-21 staff here!

“There is also Henri Lansbury and Jack Hunt, who I know as well, which always helps.

“The first day has been brilliant and I can’t wait to get going.”
