Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes says he did not allow summer interest from Hull City to become a distraction.

The 24-year-old, who boasts a prolific strike rate in the Football League, was the subject of a big-money bid from Hull in August.

Steve Bruce was reported to have tabled a £12million offer for the Scotland international, presenting him with an opportunity to step up into the Premier League.

Blackburn, though, made it clear that they had no intention of entering into discussions regarding a player they had only recently tied to a new five-year contract.

Rhodes has no issue with them having taken that stance and claims to have remained fully focused on events at Ewood Park throughout a potentially unsettling period.

Asked if the transfer talk had affected his concentration, he told the Lancashire Telegraph: “No, absolutely not.

“To go and play on a fantastic football pitch, with good lads, with a good team, and for a great club like Blackburn Rovers, there’s no better job in the world than being a footballer and I’m very lucky.

“I signed a new contract in the summer that keeps me here for a little longer as well, I was very happy to do so, and I am very happy to be a Blackburn Rovers player.”

Rhodes added: “You’ve just got to knuckle down and get on with things, there’s no point paying attention to anything that goes off in the press or in the media.

“The first couple of times – I think I was at Huddersfield – and your name gets mentioned in the paper and you might pay a little bit of attention to it.

“But now when it goes off, you just get on with it. It really is water off a duck’s back.”

Meanwhile, Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer had denied reports suggesting that another possible deal with Hull City is being discussed.

Rovers have been credited with holding an interest in Stephen Quinn, but Bowyer insists the midfielder is not a loan target for the Sky Bet Championship club.

He said: “It won’t be happening.”
