Cameron Jerome swapped the Premier League for the Championship over the summer, but is revelling in life at Norwich City.

Having been deemed surplus to requirements at Stoke City, and having spent the 2013/14 campaign on loan Crystal Palace, the 28-year-old striker was looking for a fresh start during the recent transfer window.

Neil Adams was prepared to offer him one at Carrow Road, and Jerome has grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

He now finds himself spearheading a free-scoring outfit and working under a manager who is prepared to play to his strengths.

Jerome said: “I would say he is probably the most attack-minded manager I have played under in terms of the way he sets up a team.

“It is perhaps a little bit more difficult to do that if you are not one of the bigger clubs in the Premier League. You can’t fire with fire when you are playing Chelsea and Arsenal every week because you just can’t win so it’s different in that respect but the manager here is very confident in these players.

“I noticed that straight away. He believes in them and he tells us to go out and express ourselves and play good football. That is his philosophy. He gives certain players licence to hurt oppositions but he also wants a high work-rate without the ball.”

Jerome, who has established a promising partnership with fellow new boy Lewis Grabban, added: “You look at our offensive players and they are technically gifted footballers who like to create opportunities for others. That is quite a new thing for me.

“I have always played in teams perhaps with negative midfields where it is more or less holding out the opposition rather than giving the freedom to the likes of Wes (Hoolahan) and Nathan (Redmond) to go and hurt the opposition. That is quite refreshing for me as a striker that you will have players behind you trying to provide that ammunition.

“I saw Lewis last year and have followed him through since he went to Bournemouth. He is a good player who has goals in him and he can play at a high level.

“He has had a fantastic start to his Norwich career so whether it’s him or me or (Kyle) Lafferty or (Gary) Hooper we look like we have goals in our team with the right supply and that must be pleasing for the manager to have that selection headache.”
