Next Cardiff manager: Sky Bet make Tony Pulis the favourite to succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Tony Pulis is Sky Bet’s 4/5 favourite to take the Cardiff City job, following confirmation of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure on Thursday.

Solskjaer travelled to London to discuss his future with club owner Vincent Tan on Wednesday, and the Norwegian officially left his post the following day.

He failed to keep the Bluebirds in the Premier League last season, and their poor form has continued in the Sky Bet Championship, with just two wins in their opening seven games.

Betting has now commenced on who will succeed the former Manchester United striker as Cardiff boss, with Pulis the early favourite, while Paul Hartley is also in the running at 9/4.

Sky Bet trader Jamie Munro said: “The early indications are that Pulis is a strong candidate, but we’ve also seen a bit of money on Dave Jones at 8/1.

“Whether or not Pulis will be willing to work with Tan is another matter, but the Welshman certainly fits Cardiff’s needs as their odds for promotion have drifted out from 5/2 to 11/2 since the start of the campaign.”

Meanwhile, Neil Lennon is given a 6/1 chance of landing the role, while the big outsiders include Karl Robinson (18/1) and Paolo Di Canio (20/1).
