Injured Blackpool midfielder Jacob Mellis is hoping to be back in action in two weeks.

The 23-year-old, who joined the Tangerines on a one-year deal this summer after leaving Barnsley, has been on the sidelines since suffering knee ligament damage against Blackburn on August 16.

"I should be back in a couple of weeks," Mellis told the club's official website. "I'm starting to do some more work now with Phil (Horner) and I'm starting to get more movement in it.

"It was the first minute of the Blackburn game when I did my ligaments. I had to keep a brace on it at first to make sure it was secure, but I've got full movement back now.

"As long as I don't feel anything beforehand I should be a couple of weeks away, but I've not set a specific game."
