Brighton & Hove Albion assistant head coach Nathan Jones has hinted that the club are interested in signing Dale Stephens from Charlton Athletic.
The 24-year-old's current contract with the London club will come to an end at the end of the season, and Brighton are eager to swoop in and recruit the midfielder before the end of the January transfer window.
Sky Sports reported on Tuesday that the Seagulls have already made an offer for Stephens, and although Jones has not explicitly confirmed their interest, he has refused to deny it either.
"I know Dale very, very well (from his time at Charlton)," Jones told The Argus.
"It would be wrong for me to comment. Things are ongoing with the club in terms of targets. It would be wrong for me to comment on anyone.
"Those things will probably materialise in the next 24 to 48 hours and hopefully we will be in a strong position come 11 o'clock on Friday to kick on."
