Burnley chief executive Lee Hoos says the club are still trying to sign players ahead of Friday's deadline.
The Championship side have already signed Ashley Barnes on a three-and-a-half year deal from Brighton and have been linked with several other players throughout the football league.
Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph, Hoos refused to rule out another permanent signing before the deadline.
Hoos said: "Fingers crossed on that one, who knows.
"The balance of it is now whoever we bring in he's got to fit in with how our group works, and the way our group works right now is really good.
"The problem we have is convincing someone to come in and fight for their place."
Burnley manager Sean Dyche has also been linked with a number of loan signings and Hoos thinks that could be an option as well.
Hoos added: "Sean's got a couple of irons in the fire so there might be one more if we can do it."
