Blackpool will sign Blackburn striker David Goodwillie on loan for the rest of the season on Friday, according to Sky sources.
Barry Ferguson, who was placed in temporary charge of the Seasiders following the sacking of Paul Ince earlier this week, is set to bring in his fellow Scot as he seeks to arrest a slide which has seen Blackpool lose nine of their last 10 matches.
Goodwillie, 24, shot to prominence while with Dundee United, for whom he scored 19 times three seasons ago, before securing his big move south of the border.
Things have not quite worked out for him at Rovers, though, and he found himself marginalised even after their relegation to the Championship last season.
Goodwillie rejoined Dundee United on loan at the start of this campaign yet he was unable to rekindle the form of his last spell and scored just six times in 22 appearances.
He had also been linked with loan moves to Aberdeen, St Johnstone and Oldham after returning to Ewood Park this month.
