Nottingham Forest have appointed Gary Brazil as academy manager on a permanent basis.

The former Notts County boss, 51, had been filling the role temporarily following the departure of Nick Marshall last season.

Brazil, who performed a similar job with Premier League club Fulham, is relishing the challenge of nurturing the club's stars of the future.

"The hard work really starts now for me and for my staff. We have massive potential within the Academy and it is up to us now to realise that," Brazil told Forest's official website.

"Our aim is to provide players for Charlie McParland's Under-21 group and ultimately send them on to feature in the first team for Billy Davies.

"It was great to see the chairman (Fawaz Al Hasawi) at the FA Youth Cup game (against Charlton) and I know that both he and the manager have a lot of support for the academy.

"My role will change slightly as I'm now a permanent fixture at the football club. Hopefully we'll make improvements in the coming months and we can really take the academy forward."

Meanwhile, Reds midfielder Simon Gillett will remain on loan at Bristol City until the end of the season.

Gillett, out of contract in the summer, has made 10 appearances since joining the Robins in October and will continue to help the Sky Bet League One club in their battle against relegation.
