Brighton boss Oscar Garcia is desperate to strengthen his squad before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
The Seagulls have so far only brought in youngsters Jonathan Obika and Jeffrey Monakana, yet they have sold experienced players Adam El-Abd and Ashley Barnes while influential midfielder Liam Bridcutt is angling for a move.
Garcia had hoped to bring in Lewis Grabban only for the striker to sign a new deal with Bournemouth over the weekend.
He said: "We have lost four or five players and we didn't have replacements so we will have to see what we can do.
"At the moment we have the squad we have, but we are always looking to strengthen."
Meanwhile Grabban has explained why he snubbed the Seagulls.
The 26-year-old told BBC Radio Solent: "I'm happy here and that's why I've signed a new deal.
"I've always known there is a vision here and it was about thinking about my future and what was going to be best.
"Ultimately, I decided my future would be best here."
