Andy Johnson could play some part in QPR's top-of-the-table clash with Burnley at the weekend after featuring in the development squad's win over Brentford.
The striker missed most of last season with a cruciate ligament problem and has not been involved in the first team since injuring his knee in August.
The 32-year-old had shown promising form at the start of the campaign, scoring twice in six appearances, and may make the trip to Turf Moor.
Johnson played 70 minutes as Marc Bircham's U21s defeated London neighbours Brentford 4-0 at Loftus Road.
There was also positive news on winger Matty Phillips, who played the whole game.
