Former England Under-20 ace Scott Wiseman is ready to pledge his international allegiance to Gibraltar.
Sky Sports understands that the Barnsley defender is ready to play for the Mediterranean territory, which he qualifies for through his mother who was born in Gibraltar.
After years of battling, Gibraltar were granted UEFA membership earlier this year and they will feature for the first time in qualifying for Euro 2016, which begins in less than 12 months.
The 27-year-old, who did play for England at youth level, is now going through the procedures of pledging his future to Gibraltar.
Wiseman's agent Lee Philpott confirmed that he has helped realise his client's international ambitions.
"His mother was born there and as soon as they were granted UEFA status, it obviously becomes important," Philpott told Sky Sports.
"I made contact with the Gibraltar manager and everything has gone from there.
"Scott wants to play and now we are just waiting for all the confirmation to come through."
Gibraltar coach Allen Bula has already persuaded his nephew, former Manchester United defender Danny Higginbotham, to play for them, and is delighted that Wiseman is ready to join his squad.
"We have been looking and to get a defender of Scott's calibre is fantastic," Bula told Sky Sports.
"My main targets have been defenders, and we got Danny and now to add Scott to the calibre of players we already have is great news for Gibraltar."
