Sky Sports understands Birmingham City have taken former Northampton and Oxford defender Liam Davis on trial.
Davis is available on a free transfer after leaving Oxford at the end of last season.
The 26-year-old, who started his career at Coventry, has been invited to join Birmingham for pre-season training.
Blues boss Lee Clark is looking to bolster his squad ahead of the new season and Davis' ability to play at left-back or as a left-sided winger makes him an attractive proposition.
Davis is expected to spend this week training with Birmingham so that Clark can cast an eye over him before deciding whether or not to offer him a deal at St Andrew's.
