Paul Ince was disappointed not to secure his first win in charge of Blackpool on Tuesday following a 1-1 draw with Birmingham City.
While Kirk Broadfoot headed home the first goal of Ince's four-match reign to cancel out Curtis Davies' opener, the Seasiders were held to a draw at St Andrew's.
"If you look at the first 25 minutes we played some really good stuff and I think we maybe should have been two or three-nil up," Ince said.
"When you're playing that well you need to score goals, we just wanted that goal to go in and it didn't fall for us to be fair. Like anything when you don't score, low and behold, we don't defend right and they go in at half-time one-nil."
Ince added: "It would be nice to get a win but I've only been here two weeks, apart from the Leeds game (a 2-0 defeat), we've got three draws and we're building blocks at the moment.
"It's never easy coming to St Andrew's, especially with their crowd and when their winning 1-0, but we showed great character and great endeavour to get back into the game.
"They could have won it and maybe should have won it at the end with Wade Elliott but that would have been a bit unjustified.
"When you look at the chances I feel a bit aggrieved we didn't win the game but when you look at Wade Elliott's chance you take a point."
