Notts County manager Keith Curle insists the club are determined to hang on to their talismanic midfield star Alan Judge, despite interest from a number of Championship clubs.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has already scored a couple of goals this campaign and has caught the eye with several excellent performances for the Magpies.
And, with Judge's contract at Meadow Lane due to expire at the end of the season, County could cash-in on the player this January, rather than let him walk away on a Bosman free.
However, Curle is not ready to allow the No.10, who has been dubbed the 'Irish Messi' by supporters to leave just yet and wants him to stay and help them push for a play-off spot in League One.
Curle believes Judge could easily raise his game and grace the second-tier, but hopes that he will do so with the Magpies next season.
He told Sky Sports: "Alan is of the mindset that he wants to play at the highest level and obviously the next step up is the Championship.
"Ideally, he would like to play in the next tier with us, so it is in his best interest to keep putting in the performances, scoring goals and helping this club reach that level.
"I do believe that Alan is ready for the Championship, but only if selected in the right team that fully understands his strengths and how to get the best out of him.
"He is definitely Championship material at a minimum in my eyes."
