Nottingham Forest's first game under Alex McLeish is in doubt.
Crystal Palace are due to visit the City Ground on Saturday in what would be McLeish's debut as manager.
But heavy rain in Nottingham has forced the club to call a second pitch inspection for midday after a 9.30am check on the morning of the game proved inconclusive.
A statement on the Forest website read: "There are concerns about The City Ground playing surface due to the heavy rain that has already fallen and a forecast of further prolonged downpours overnight."
If the game is called off a New Year's Day trip to Blackburn will be the first assignment for McLeish, who replaced Sean O'Driscoll this week.
