Sean Dyche has warned his Burnley players not to get sucked into a scrap when Blackburn visit on Sunday.
The Lancashire derby is among the fiercest in English football but the enmity in the stands has no place on the pitch, according to Dyche, whose club are without a win in the fixture for 33 years.
The Burnley manager, who has won three of his six games since replacing Eddie Howe, said: "The mentality of these occasions can spill into how the game actually works - the feel of it, the tempo of it.
"But within that it's important to have clear minds. I'll be speaking to the players about clear minds, concentrating and focusing.
"While you have to be aware of what the opposition offer you, it's important to remember what we're doing and what we're about.
"We go into it with a good mentality at the moment and a nice, solid confidence to what we're doing."
