Sky Sports understands Nottingham Forest striker Marcus Tudgay is moving to Championship rivals Barnsley on loan.

The 29-year-old has not featured for his club since the end of August and has made just two appearances this season.

Forest boss Sean O'Driscoll has preferred to use on-loan Southampton forward Billy Sharp and £2million summer signing Simon Cox in his first-team plans.

But Barnsley are prepared to offer former Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday man Tudgay a way out as they look to increase their attacking options.

Keith Hill's side sit just two points about the Championship relegation zone and have only scored 15 league goals, which is the second-worst record in the division to drop-zone occupants Ipswich Town.
