Paul Elliott has admitted his pride as he stands on the brink of becoming Charlton Athletic's new chairman.
The 48-year-old began his playing career at The Valley and has reportedly agreed in principle to return to the club as the first black chairman in English football.
Elliott is yet to complete financial terms with Charlton but the former defender, who also played for Chelsea and Celtic, expects a conclusion 'very soon'.
He said in the Daily Mirror: "I have a long historical association with that club.
"I was born and grew up in the area, started my career there and my family still live there.
"I'm very flattered to be associated with the club in this way and we'll see how it turns out very soon."
