Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Sean O'Driscoll as their new manager.

Forest turn to familiar face

Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Sean O'Driscoll as their new manager. The Reds have turned to a familiar face following their decision to part with the services of Steve Cotterill. New owners the Al-Hasawi family are keen to take the club in a different direction and believe O'Driscoll is the right man to lead them into a bright future. Sky Sports revealed on Wednesday that the former Bournemouth and Doncaster Rovers boss had been identified as a leading candidate for the vacant managerial post at the City Ground. Following an initial interview, he returned for a second round of talks on Thursday. An offer was put to him and a man who spent five months on the Reds' coaching staff last season has agreed to return to Trentside in the top job. O'Driscoll is back at Forest after the Reds agreed a compensation package with League One new boys Crawley.

Respected

Majority shareholder Fawaz Al-Hasawi told the Reds' official website: "We interviewed many well-known and high profile figures but none of them impressed us as much as Sean O'Driscoll. "Season's passion for Nottingham Forest, knowledge of the game and the Championship in particular, plus his work ethic, shone through in our conversations. "He is hugely respected, not only by members of our current squad and staff at the club for his work in helping transform our fortunes last season, but also within the wider football community." Al Hasawi added: "We are delighted to welcome Sean back to the club. He has our total support and we are looking forward to a long and successful relationship."
