Midfielder leaves Palace for two-year contract at Birmingham

Birmingham City have completed the signing of Darren Ambrose on a two-year contract after an undisclosed fee was agreed with Championship rivals Crystal Palace. Sky Sports revealed earlier on Friday that Ambrose was on his way to St Andrew's after Palace reluctantly agreed to his sale, with the midfielder having just a year left on his contract. His arrival at Birmingham has capped a busy few days in the transfer market for new manager Lee Clark and Ambrose is looking forward to a fresh challenge. Ambrose told Birmingham's official website: "I'm absolutely delighted and buzzing at the moment. I can't wait to get going. "It's been a hectic few days to get it done but this a positive move for myself at this point in my career and I can't wait. "Hopefully we can improve as a team on last year (defeat in the Championship play-off semi-finals) and go one better." Ambrose had spent the past three seasons with Palace and joins Peter Lovenkrands, Hayden Mullins and David Lucas in making the move to Birmingham following the lifting of the club's transfer embargo.
