Veteran keeper delighted to have been offered Lions chance

Maik Taylor claims age is no barrier as he prepares to take in his first full season on the books of Championship side Millwall. The former Fulham and Birmingham goalkeeper is set to pen a 12-month contract with the Lions next week at the age of 40. He saw out the 2011/12 campaign at The Den after heading to the capital on loan from Leeds. The Northern Ireland international is confident he can be an important figure for Kenny Jackett's side next season, with Tottenham's Brad Friedel proving that shot-stoppers get better with age.

Determined

"I feel as fit as ever," Taylor told the club's official website. "I am determined to keep playing for as long as I can. "There are a number of keepers still playing at the top level into their forties, with Brad Friedel, who is older than me, prime amongst them. "My body feels good, I'm still able to train as hard as ever and I love playing so I'm delighted to have the chance to continue my career at Millwall."
