Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has called on the club to offer a new contract to Martin Cranie, with the defender open-minded about his future.
Cranie's current deal expires in the summer and Thorn wants the 25-year-old to stay at the Ricoh Arena following the Sky Blues' relegation from the Championship.
The centre-half has made over 100 appearances since joining from Portsmouth in 2009 and Thorn feels Cranie has a key role to play in Coventry's bid to bounce straight back up.
"I've asked the club to speak to him regarding re-signing and we'll see where we go with that," said Thorn in the Coventry Telegraph.

"I'd like to keep Martin because he's been terrific and he's formed a decent partnership with Richard Keogh and they are the right age for us as well."
Cranie added: "I'll be sitting down with the club in the next week or so and see where we go from there.
"None of the lads want to play in League One but it's something we have to do and if we can do what Southampton did by keeping hold of a lot of their players we can hopefully achieve what they have.
"If the manager can keep the nucleus of the team then I am sure we'll have a good chance of coming back together."
